Quinnipiac University is one of the best places to work in Connecticut.
That’s what the Hartford Business Journal and Best Companies Group found in its eighth annual survey of Connecticut companies. The survey and awards program, sponsored by The Hooker & Holcombe Companies, identifies, recognizes and honors Connecticut’s best employers for benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses.
“Quinnipiac University’s inclusion in the Hartford Business Journal’s annual Survey of Connecticut’s Best Employers is a wonderful confirmation that the university has created a unique workplace that employees embrace,” said Ron Mason, vice president for human resources at Quinnipiac. “I am so pleased that our employees recognize the specialness of this empowering environment where every employee on each of our three campuses, no matter the role, strives and contributes to Quinnipiac’s excellence in higher education.”
The rankings are made up of 30 companies split into two categories: 15 small/medium-sized companies with 15 to 199 U.S. employees and 15 large-sized companies with 200 or more U.S. employees. Quinnipiac, which has 1,194 employees, has been named one of this year’s Best Places to Work in Connecticut in the large-sized category.
To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in Connecticut;
- Have at least 15 employees in Connecticut;
- Be in business a minimum of one year.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Connecticut. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Connecticut, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.
The rankings will be published in the March 2013 issue of the Hartford Business Journal and the ranked companies will be recognized at an awards ceremony in March 2013.
