School of Medicine Founding Dean Dr. Bruce Koeppen discusses the importance of primary care physicians

koeppenDr. Bruce Koeppen, founding dean of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine and vice president of health affairs at Quinnipiac University, discussed why it is important for students to enter medical school interested in primary care on Sound Medicine.

Koeppen told the nationally syndicated medical-focused radio show that he hopes that 50 percent of each class pursues careers in primary care medicine.

“We think we have an environment here that is unique that will allow us to distinguish ourselves as an institution that specializes in the interprofessional training of the health care team of the future, particularly with an emphasis on primary care,” said Koeppen.
