Tami Reilly, Professor Maureen Helgren and students help cancer patients in Guatemala

Tami Reilly, associate director of fitness and wellness, and Maureen Helgren, associate professor and chair of physical therapy, were featured in a New Haven Register article about their recent 12-day trip  to help cancer patients in Guatemala.

The group, which consisted of six physical therapy and occupational therapy students, distributed 90 wigs to women who lost their hair from chemotherapy treatments. Breast prosthetics and head scarves were also donated.

“It’s such a great experience for these kids,” she Helgren, who said she would like to return in January with her students.
